Your voice is transcribed by the browser, locally. It is not sent anywhere. The echo uses the browser's own voice; the full assistant speaks with the high-quality voice from above.

What is Voice Assistant?

It is a small program that runs on your own computer (Windows, Linux, or Mac). It listens to you, sends your question to an AI running on your machine, and speaks the answer out loud while showing every word as live text.

🎧 For blind users

Open the page and it starts listening. Everything is spoken — the app even reads its own controls. No need to find or press anything.

👁️ For deaf users

Every word appears on screen as it happens. A "Visual mode" toggle turns speech off entirely — reading only.

Two honest things before you decide:

The voice you just heard is the assistant's real voice, already installed with it. The full assistant adds one thing: an AI that answers you.
The full assistant needs an AI model on your machine. That is the one step that needs a little setup, and it is 100% optional.

Install (Linux & Mac)

Install (Windows)

Run in PowerShell:

Same result — everything local, nothing sent to a cloud unless you configure it.

After install, start it with:

voice-assistant

It opens at http://localhost:8081. You configure your own AI endpoint in Settings — by default it points at a local server (e.g. Gemma on port 1234).
